Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist

Welcome!

My family and I moved to Florida due to a Permanent Change of Station (PCS). I have two adult daughters, a granddaughter, and a very energetic son. Our family loves traveling, and you’ll often find us at Disney World several times a month.

Professional Background

I have 15 years of experience as an addiction counselor and mental health therapist. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and a Certified Addiction Professional (CAP) in Florida. I am also certified by the Department of Transportation to conduct SAP assessments and serve as a supervisor for LMHC and LMFT internspursuing licensure hours.

I earned my B.A. in Psychology from California State University, Bakersfield, and completed my Master’s in Counseling and Certified Addiction Professional program at the University of San Diego and University of Phoenix, San Diego campus, in 2005. My training included internships at Mental Health Systems, Inc. in San Diego, CA, and Newport County Community Mental Health Center in Middletown, RI, where I served as an outpatient therapist and program manager. I also gained experience conducting crisis interventions and involuntary certifications for children and adolescents in a hospital emergency setting.

Therapy Approach

I believe every individual has the capacity to overcome challenges—they just need guidance. My role as a therapist is to foster growth and healing, helping clients find their own solutions. I use CBT, DBT, mindfulness, and solution-focused brief therapy techniques with individuals to meet goals efficiently and provide practical tools for long-term success.

With couples, I focus on strengthening relationships, highlighting what’s working well, and teaching strategies that make marriages thrive. We work on building trust, restoring love, fostering friendship, and creating a shared sense of “we.”

Military & Community Focus

As a military spouse for over 20 years, I understand the impact of deployments and military life on families. I have a special interest in supporting military families and am an in-network Tricare provider and Military OneSource provider, in addition to being part of other insurance panels.
